embers of the Biochemistry Department seek to understand the processes of life at the biochemical level. Research in the Department includes studies on the molecular mechanisms and regulation of RNA and DNA synthesis, recombination, oxygen sensing and signaling, mechanisms of nitric oxide action, mechanisms of chaperone-assisted protein folding, protein structure, stress signaling and response, mechanisms of G-protein function, HIV prophylaxis, neuron receptor localization and signaling mechanisms that determine the spatial directions of neuron motility.

The Biochemistry Department enjoys a rich intellectual, and supportive physical environment, with ample opportunities for interaction with colleagues with a wide variety of scientific expertise. The New York University School of Medicine maintains a active graduate program through the Sackler Institute of Biomedical Sciences and the MD/PhD Physician/Scientist Training Program
