Section for Health Equity Dissemination

The Section for Health Equity at NYU Langone, in the Department of Population Health’s Division of Health and Behavior, translates its community health work and research programs into measurable health outcomes that reduce health disparities.

Since 2007, the NYU Center for the Study of Asian American Health (CSAAH) has partnered with the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF)—a national organization with 30 years of experience in community coalition building and health promotion activities. The APIAHF co-leads our Community Engagement and Dissemination Core, co-facilitating CSAAH’s National Advisory Committee on Research that includes grassroots community leaders, social service providers and advocates, and healthcare professionals who serve Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities across the United States and Pacific Basin.

Our collaborations allow us to serve as a national information and dissemination resource for the translation of evidence-based research into community and clinical practice relevant to the social, environmental, and biological needs of Asian American communities.

In working with our local and national community partners, we disseminate research findings, culturally adapted health information, networking opportunities, and events through digital and in-person channels, including YouTube.

Additionally, we cosponsor the annual Health Equity Symposium with the Clinical and Translational Science Institute and Office of Diversity Affairs each fall.

Community Health Digital Stories

As part of our mission to disseminate information to our communities through digital channels, we are developing a continuing series of community health stories that speak to our community participatory research goals and our strategic approach to fostering long-lasting community engagement, advancing health equity, and conducting health disparities research.
