Michael T. Burke
Senior Vice President and Vice Dean, Corporate Chief Financial Officer

In both CFO positions, Michael worked closely with all levels of leadership and the medical staff in developing innovative strategies to improve financial performance. While at Tufts, he also helped forge stronger ties with the wider university. At KPMG, where he was senior manager in the Health and Life Sciences Performance Improvement Consulting Practice, his clients included large academic medical centers, specialty clinics, community hospitals and HMOs. He also has a strong auditing background, having served as senior healthcare auditor for Price Waterhouse and senior auditor at the N.Y.S. Attorney General’s office for Medicaid fraud control.
Michael has an impressive track record in every facet of financial management: budget preparation and oversight; revenue cycle improvements; cost control; managed care contracting; project financing; strategic planning; acquisitions; and negotiations, including with state and federal agencies, for the reimbursement of both clinical services and graduate medical education. He is also fluent in the types of broad initiatives we have under way at our Medical Center—from care management, to structural realignment, to growth strategies for clinical areas—and is well versed in the dynamics of process redesign and continuous quality improvement.
