NYU Langone Medical Center has a heritage of greatness that we are reinventing every day. We take deep pride in all that our exceptional faculty and staff have achieved for the benefit of our patients, our students, our community, and the world.
They prove – every day – that excellence is its own specialty: ours. In our quest for uncompromising excellence, NYU Langone and our faculty and staff have received several distinguished awards, including:
U.S. News & World Report “Best Hospitals" 2014-2015
NYU Langone Medical Center is #15 in the nation on U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals 2014 – 15 Honor Roll,” with 13 nationally ranked specialties, including top 10 rankings in Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Rehabilitation, Neurology & Neurosurgery, and Geriatrics. Additional nationally ranked specialties are: Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Urology, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Ear, Nose & Throat, Gastroenterology, Cancer, Nephrology and Pulmonology. Gynecology was also ranked as a “high-performing” specialty.
NYU Langone is the only hospital in New York to receive top 10 rankings for all three musculoskeletal specialty areas of orthopaedics, rheumatology and rehabilitation. Additionally, NYU Langone’s Rusk Rehabilitation was again ranked the best in New York State and among the top 10 in the country, an honor held for 25 years since U.S. News & World Report first introduced its annual “Best Hospitals” rankings in 1989.
For the third year in a row, NYU Langone ranked #2 in New York State and #2 in the New York metro area for being a high performing hospital.
U.S. News & World Report “Best Graduate Schools” 2015
NYU School of Medicine ranked #19 out of 129 medical schools for research on the 2015 U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Graduate Schools” rankings. Up from #34 in 2007, the rise over the past seven years represents one of the fastest increases in national ranking among major universities in the history of the survey. In addition, the School saw an improvement in its reputational score among the nation’s residency program directors, which also contributed to the result. The analysis includes assessments by deans and residency directors, research funding, and the grade-point averages and MCAT scores for incoming students.
UHC Quality and Accountability Survey
NYU Langone ranked number one for overall patient safety and quality among leading academic medical centers across the nation that participated in the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) 2013 Quality and Accountability Study. In addition, NYU Langone received the UHC Quality Leadership Award for demonstrated excellence in the delivery of high-quality care, achieved five stars for its overall performance, and ranked number one in safety, effectiveness, and equity. NYU Langone moved to the number one ranking from number eight last year – an especially impressive recognition, as it is achieved just one year after Hurricane Sandy caused severe disruptions and destruction to NYU Langone's main campus.
