Slide #10
- Another key realations ship is the Load/Velocity relationship.
- Simply stated, the relationship says that when a heavier load is applied
to a muscle it will shorten with a lower velocity.
- From this relationship, we acquire 2 values:
- Vmax - The maximum velocity attainable by the muscle under NO load.
- The Vmax is dependent on the ATPase activity of the myosin in the muscle.
- Fmax - The maximum stress which the muscle can bear with NO muscle
contration.
- The Fmax is dependent on the number of crossbridges between actin and
myosin
