Training Program
Welcome
David N. Levine, MD
Professor and Interim Chairman of Neurology
These are exciting times for the basic and clinical neurosciences. From the cell biology of the neuron to the analysis of dynamics in complex self-organizing systems, research in the basic neurosciences has deepened our understanding of the structure and function of the brain. Clinical neurology benefits from this research, as it is applied to develop new techniques in the fields of neuroimaging, electrophysiology, endovascular access, molecular genetics, and immunology. Powerful new insights have been generated into the pathophysiology of stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, brain tumors, dementia, migraine and neurogenetic diseases. As a result, a myriad of new treatments are in various stages of development.
We at the NYU School of Medicine are fortunate to have excellent facilities, a wide range of expertise, and the latest in technology, allowing for the optimal evaluation and treatment of both adults and children with neurological disorders. Our large faculty and extensive referral base insure our trainees a maximal breadth of clinical exposure. Residency training in neurology at NYU provides a solid foundation for a career in either academic neurology or the office and hospital practice of clinical neurology.
This website will provide details about training opportunities in neurology at NYU. We hope that you find it useful.
